Tō Tātau Kura 

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngāti Kahungunu o Te Wairoa is a composite (Year 1 – 13) school in Wairoa. The kura operates in accordance with the vision and mission in its Charter, the guiding principles of Te Aho Matua.
The values of whakapapa/whanaungatanga, aroha and manaakitanga are special features of this kura. The whānau celebrate their whakapapa mainly to Ngāti Kahungunu (ki Te Wairoa) and also other iwi. They provide opportunities for students to demonstrate their uniqueness and histories. 
The kura curriculum reflects te ao Māori values and beliefs. Kaiako focuses on building student’s skills, knowledge and understanding in order to be confident in the pathways they pursue.  Students are immersed in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, and tikanga Māori. A kura priority is to raise student’s ability to speak te reo Māori confidently. They are well supported by whānau and kaiako. 

 

Te Kura Kaupapa Māori ō Ngāti Kahungunu o Te Wairoa

The kura currently offers high quality level 1 Immersion education with a kaupapa Maori philosophical base, Te Aho Matua, for years 1 – 13.  We provide a safe, physical, spiritual and emotional environment, which is focused on the well being of our students, their whānau and the whānau whānui.  The primary sector of our kura consists of three classrooms Years 1 – 8, with our Wharekura catering for Years 9 – 13 students.  We deliver a high performing alternative for both Primary and Secondary education through the medium of Māori language.
